Circular economy

The circular economy is an economic system that promotes reducing waste and extending product life cycles through reuse. The circular economy attempts to reduce the environmental impact of goods consumption while strengthening the sustainability of industrial development.

Shell Catalysts & Technologies is developing solutions for the circular economy across its Decarbonisation Solutions technology portfolio. For example, there is potential for one industry’s waste to become a value stream for another to make different products. We are developing catalysts and process technologies that may improve the way tough-to-recycle plastics are broken down and reprocessed, in order to be reformed into new plastics. In order to meet the demands of future populations from both energy and economic perspectives, reducing waste and repurposing materials for continued use will be critical.
